Itsy Bitsy Spider
Itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout, Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain, And itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again. Itsy bitsy spider had a busy day ahead, "I'll reach the top this time," the little spider said. With eight small legs all moving at a steady pace, Itsy started climbing with a smile upon her face. The garden flowers watched as Itsy climbed so high, Reaching for the rooftop, almost to the sky. "Be careful," warned a butterfly fluttering nearby, "I see some storm clouds forming way up in the sky." But Itsy kept on climbing, never looking down, Past the shiny metal and the pipe so round. The wind began to whistle and the sky turned gray, Dark clouds gathered quickly on that summer day. Down came the raindrops, first just one or two, Then a mighty downpour - oh, what could Itsy do? The water rushed so quickly down the metal spout, And poor dear Itsy tumbled as the rain poured out. Splash! Into a puddle, poor Itsy gave a sigh, Her climb was washed away, but she wouldn’t cry. She shook her legs and waited as the rain came down, Making tiny ripples in puddles on the ground. "I won’t give up so easily," brave Itsy softly said, "I’ll wait until the rain stops," and she nodded her head. Though storms may try to stop you and push your dreams away, The sun will always find a path to brighten up your day. Soon the rain clouds parted and the storm moved on, Up came the sunshine with its warming golden dawn. The garden sparkled brightly, its colors fresh and new, And Itsy felt much better as the sky turned clear and blue. She looked up at the spout that seemed so tall and steep, The journey to the top was challenging indeed. But Itsy wasn’t frightened by the climb ahead, "I’ll try once more," the tiny spider said. Step by careful step, she climbed the spout once more, Moving even slower than she had before. Higher and still higher, she didn’t stop to rest, Itsy kept on climbing, doing her very best. A robin watched in wonder from a nearby tree, "Look at that small spider, brave as brave can be! After such a tumble, she climbs without a fear, Teaching us a lesson that we all should hear." Finally at the summit, Itsy took a stand, She gazed across the garden, proud of where she’d land. The view was worth the effort, worth the falls she’d had, And Itsy felt so proud and her heart was glad. Itsy bitsy spider made a home up high, Weaving silky patterns against the bright blue sky. Sometimes rain would fall and wash her down once more, But she’d climb again, stronger than before. So when things get difficult and storms come your way, Remember Itsy’s journey on that rainy day. The rain may slow you down, but don’t you ever quit, With courage and persistence, you’ll make it bit by bit.
